The Vhembe district is home to the Zoutpansberg mountain range, stretching from east to west across the northern reaches of the Limpopo Province – unique in the splendour and beauty of this vast wilderness area.

With between 380-400 bird species across the Zoutpansberg area – together with the Limpopo river in the north, this makes for one of south Africa’s prime birding sites.

Proclaimed as the Vhembe Biosphere Reserve in 2009 to protect the unique ecology of the region - this vast area is home to 594 tree species, 380 bird species, 145 mammal species, 250 butterfly species, 40 fish species and 116 reptile species.

Still highly undiscovered by tourists, this makes for a fantastic Soul Holiday where nature is medicine for the soul.
